Improving The Nations Health and Well-Being
Because the Y knows that healthy lifestyles are achieved through nurturing mind, body and spirit, well-being and fitness at the Y is so much more than just working out. Beyond fitness facilities, we provide educational programs to promote healthier decisions, and offer a variety of programs that support physical, intellectual and spiritual strength.
Through the Barry County Y, we offer a sense of community, fellowship and support that enriches people’s lives.
Senior Group Exercise
Our aim: To help you feel better. Each class session includes cardiovascular, strength training, balance and flexibility exercises and the fostering of strong social relationships between participants. This is a moderate-impact class with high-impact results. Participants can use chairs for support, if necessary, and increase the weight they use for strength training at their own pace.
Moving For Better Balance
Moving for Better Balance is a 12-week evidence-based, instructor-led group program designed to help you improve your strength, balance, flexibility, and mobility through the slow and therapeutic movements of Tai Chi, a graceful form of exercise and deep breathing. The course is designed for older adults. Participants will feel stronger, have better balance, greater flexibility, and feel more confident after completing this Tai Chi program.
Moving for Better Balance has been recognized by the CDC and other national organizations committed to improving the health of older adults.
