For three day class, each participant will receive a bread kit consisting of: 1 Banneton Proofing Basket with Cover, 1 Scoring Lame ( cutting blade ), 1 Bowl Scraper, 1 Container of Sourdough Starter (Made by you!), 1 Dough per class to take and bake at home
Baker: Jay Pelc
Jay is an experienced baker with 15 years of expertise in crafting artisan breads. As a passionate and dedicated baker, Jay has honed their skills in creating a variety of bread using traditional and modern methods and only using natural ingredients.
Week 1 – Intro to Bread Baking
Learn the basics of yeast bread and rolls at home. This class introduces participants to the tools used in simple bread baking—the methods of forming and shaping dough and baking methods in home ovens.
Week 2 – Enriched Breads
This class introduces advanced levels of yeast bread that are enriched to offer sweeter and more decorative flavors for holidays and celebrations. New techniques, such as beginner braiding and toppings, will be demonstrated.
Week 3 – Intro to Sourdough
This class is a graduation from yeast bread. We will dive into the science behind natural fermentation and techniques for keeping live cultures in your home that last a lifetime and produce the most flavorful and texture-rich crusty bread.
